One of the hottest items of discussion during the 2004 Annual Convention in Reno was the growing uncertainty of travel worldwide. From global terrorism, to the realignment of Eastern Europe and Asia, to the on going changes in Africa and the Middle East, it was obvious a problem was developing.

Realizing the issues of hunting in today's global societies and it's commitment to being First For Hunters on a worldwide basis, Safari Club International turned to it's 20 year relationship with the Lechner & Stauffer Insurance Agency for a solution.

By March 2004, Lechner & Stauffer was engaged in developing a program with World Access Service Corp the leader in travel insurance since 1983. World Access is part of the Mondial Assistance Group, the world's largest travel insurance and assistance company. Because of this partnering, World Access has access to 37 operation centers which are domiciled in 28 countries around the world, thus enabling them to provide excellent worldwide service for many travel agencies, airlines, and tour operators.  Access America tailored this exclusive program to include "hunting specific" needs such as a destination government banning the hunting of specific animals, or a destination governmental closure of a hunting concession or reserve.

Next, SCI corporate sponsor MedjetAssist was added to the mix, creating the best travel protection program on the market today. The MedjetAssist plan, is a prepaid, air medical transportation program created to provide affordable, high quality air ambulance service to it's members. MedjetAssist transports members globally, to a hospital of their choice, without regard to medical necessity or cost. Aircraft operated by MedjetAssist's authorized affiliates operate as flying intensive care units capable of carrying not only the critical care patient, but also a family member along with a three or four person medical team. The teams are trained in advance cardiac care and trauma life support, emergency and critical care medicine at altitude, as well as pediatric and neonatal care.
